Garbage Collection: Every Tuesday morning starting at 8:00 a.m.
Each bag need a $2.00 sticker available for purchase at City Hall, Burt Public Library or Stateline Cooperative Lumberyard.
Recycling: Collection of recycling is the second and fourth Friday of every month
Pickup at 8:00 a.m. No stickers are needed but items need to be sorted (Paper, tin, plastic, glass) separately.
Branch & Brush Collection: *The City of Burt has decided to give every garbage customer one free dumpster for the year in lieu of a
Clean Up Day. Have your items pretty well ready to go before you call City Hall.*
Curbside collection service begins at 8:00 a.m.
On the second Monday of each month April through November at no charge.
Dog Owners: Licenses are due by January 1st of each year. Payable in December of the year before.
Fees are $10.00 per dog with fees for spayed or neutered dogs $5.00
With penalties of $10.00 per month for NOT meeting the deadline.
Please bring proof of documentation that your dog is current on their rabies vaccination and proof of spayed or neutered.
Please remember to keep your dogs under control at all times and clean-up after them.
Utility Payments: A night deposit box is provided for your convenience by the front window of City Hall.
Utility bills are mailed out the first of each month and due on the 20th of each month.
Post Office Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday 8:00 to 9:45 a.m. Lobby is open 24 Hours.
Dumpsters: May be rented for $30.00 per dumpsters load.
Dumpsters are to be used for cleaning and building projects not regular garbage. Contact City Hall for this service.
Yard Waste Collection: The second Monday of each month April through November starting at 8:00a.m.
Yard waste is to be placed in bags. $1.00 stickers are required that may be purchased at City Hall.
Snow Removal: Per ordinance, it is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to remove, snow, ice and accumulations promptly from sidewalks.
Residential property owners should have snow, ice or accumulations removed within 48 hours.
Walnut Street business owners should have snow, ice or accumulations removed within 24 hours.
If not the City may do so and assess the costs to the property owner for collection in the same manner as property tax.
Be mindful of where you are piling snow and keep your snow on your own property.
Also remember to keep your vehicles off city streets during the winter so the City Crews can get the streets cleaned off as quickly as possible.
Open Burning: The disposal of landscape waste originating on the premises by open burning shall be allowed during the
hours of 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. daily. Regular garbage is not to be burned within the city except by permission of the city council.
City Hall Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to Noon & 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed Saturdays.
